Valensa International‘s men’s health ingredient, USPlus PRO, was shown in a new study published in Food and Nutrition Sciences to offer a “three-in-one” benefit profile for urinary performance, bladder control, and sexual function.

According to Dr. Leigh Vinocur, one of the study’s authors, “no other natural ingredient has performed well across all three benefit areas in a double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trial.”

Study Details

More than half of men over 50 experience lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The study compared supplementation with USPlus PRO and placebo in men aged 45 to 80 with mostly moderate to severe LUTS. The participants were randomized 1:1 to USPlus PRO (providing 240 mg proprietary free fatty acids) or placebo for 12 weeks. 

In as early as four weeks, a clinically meaningful relief in symptoms was evident by the reduction in International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS). At week 12, statistically significant results and positive outcomes were observed in the USPlus PRO group for the IPSS score, voiding sub score (IPSS-V), incomplete emptying, weak stream, Brief Sexual Function Inventory (BSFI) total scores, and erection domain scores. The outcomes further validated the safety of USPlus PRO.

The authors concluded that men who supplemented with USPlus PRO for 12 weeks had 50% reduction in frequency of weak stream, 60% reduction in straining during urination, fewer nighttime bathroom trips, and twice more satisfaction in bladder emptying compared to baseline before using USPlus PRO.

In addition, significant improvements in sexual function were reported by men using USPlus PRO in as early as four weeks. There was a 3.5 times improvement in sexual function in men 50-plus compared to placebo. 

According to Dr. Amanda Rao, principal investigator at RDC Clinical, who conducted the study, “The improvements observed in urinary symptoms and sexual function were substantial. USPlus PRO demonstrated a 6.4-point reduction in IPSS, a statistically significant change compared to placebo.” 

She added that 80% of participants achieved a clinically meaningful reduction in IPSS, with 90% of those with severe symptoms experiencing clinically significant improvement.
